The Reign
You though I am a woman,
To be petted
And passed over and ignored.
Like
Queen of France,
Packed off like precious merchandise
To spend a lifetime with
Another mysterious bridegroom.
I never cared for
Someone younger than me.
More beautiful than me.
Married before me.
But,
I'm eclipsed.
I AM Isis.
I am worshiped by millions who believe it.
I can kill just by moving my finger.
I need
A court to worship me,
A country to obey me,
Poems written celebrating my beauty.
Music composed in my honour.
Some people are born
More fortunate than others.
